Dr. Tamara Smithers earned the Ph.D. from Temple University in 2012 in Italian Renaissance Art History with a focus on the life and work of Michelangelo. She has published numerous essays Michelangelo, most recently an edited book volume entitled Michelangelo in the New Millennium: Conversations about Artistic Practice, Patronage & Christianity (Brill 2016). Fellowships include a 2015–16 Princeton University Library Research Grant and a 2016 Lindsey Young Visiting Faculty Research Fellowship at the Marco Institute at the University of Tennessee, In 2011, she participated in a National Endowment for the Humanities summer seminar hosted by the American Academy in Rome, Italy. She regularly travels to the Eternal City to conduct research, present at conferences, and to teach study abroad. She also holds a BA in Studio Art, using photography to visually capture her travel experiences through the years. |
