This work is an invented history – a vintage collection of
samples from the cryptozoological world. From the famous to the obscure, our Collector has travelled the world to find tangible proof of the unknown. A lack of evidence means creatures and phenomenon remain constrained to the world of myth and legend - a novelty at best. Being able to hold an artifact or see it with one’s own eyes makes the impossible real. The case is the field kit of one Dr. William Oliver Raymond, Collector Of The Cryptozoological. The kit includes specimens, trace evidence, samples, and photo documentation of our Collector’s travels. The contained journal fully documents with text and drawings the discovery of the included artifacts. The collection’s goal is to celebrate the unknown, and to encourage curiosity in the world just beyond our grasp. |
Scott Raymond and Heather Abels started out as grad school nemesis, and currently co-create projects as husband and wife.
Scott spent 8 years at DreamWorks Animation, first as a crowds artist and then as an animator. He has worked in feature & tv animation, live-action visual effects, gaming, webseries, theme parks and commercials - the latter winning several National ADDY awards for animation.
Currently, Scott is in his third year as Assistant Professor of Animation at Austin Peay State University. He continues to freelance as an animator while building a new animation program at the University.
Scott has been fascinated with the unknown since checking out a library book on the abdominal snowman in the 2nd grade.
Heather is a senior matte painter with over 11 years of experience in the animation and visual effects industry. Her work encompasses Academy Award winning live-action blockbusters, animated feature films, national advertising campaigns, cutting-edge VR, and concept work. She also has taught at several universities and currently has an ongoing workshop at CGSociety.
Heather loves to recreate movie props and has an uncanny ability at finding four leaf clovers.
